According to this article in the Brussels Journal, the EU has been putting pressure on Switzerland to socialist up. After all, you can't have socialism if the high taxes vause everyone to flee to more capitalistic countries, can you.
On the bright side, though, if European tax policy winds up killing their economies too much, eventually they will lose the power to force their will on other countries. On the other hand, this will lead to the displacement of the West as the dominant force in the world.
