Gateway Pundit recently posted that Iraqi civilian fatalities have decreased markedly in Iraq, which to Robert suggests that the war is winding down.
Of course, GP had to correct the table he was originally using with this one, which shows some decrease in 2005 compared to 2004, but not anywhere near as significant a one as he thought based on the original graph.
And one other thing that no one is considering is who is causing the casualties. I would think that in 2003 and 2004 a lot of the casualties were caused by U.S. forces, particularly in the initial invasion and in the two attacks on Fallujah. So these deaths would not be indicative of the strength of the insurgents. So it is totally conceivable to me that the civilian deaths caused directly by the insurgency have increased.
